Tainung No. 2 Honey Peach (台农2号水蜜桃)

Description

Also called Summer Honey, it is a high-quality, early-maturing variety developed by the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute. It is well-suited for cultivation in subtropical and warm regions. Specifically bred for hot and humid climates, it performs especially well in low-altitude areas of southern and central Taiwan.

Key Characteristics:

• Early Maturity: The fruit ripens early, typically harvested from late May to early June.
• High Fruiting Ability: Strong adaptability, consistently high yields, and good resistance to pests and diseases.
• Moderate to Vigorous Growth: The tree has an open canopy, making it easy to prune and manage.
• Fruit Shape: Nearly round or slightly flattened, with a slightly sunken top and thin skin.
• Fruit Weight: Average single fruit weighs about 180–250 grams, with an attractive and symmetrical appearance.
• Skin Color: When ripe, the skin turns pink to bright red with blush or stripes, making it visually appealing.
• Flesh: The flesh is milky white to pale yellow, fine-textured, juicy, sweet, and strongly aromatic.
• Flavor: High sugar content with low acidity, melting texture, rich aroma — highly favored by consumers.
• Soluble Solids Content: Approximately 12%–14%, indicating excellent flavor quality.
