Red Nanguo Pear is a bud mutation of Nanguo Pear discovered in 1989 in Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province, China.
The fruit is nearly round, averaging 110 g (3.9 oz) and reaching up to 180 g (6.3 oz). The smooth, glossy skin develops a bright red blush covering 65–70% of the fruit. The flesh is milky white.
Freshly harvested, the fruit is firm, crisp, and sweet. After 10–15 days of ripening, the flesh becomes yellowish-white, fine-textured, soft, juicy, and low in stone cells. Soluble solids are approximately 16%, with a rich, sweet flavor.
