Description
National Day Peach, also known as Yingqing Peach or “Jiukeng Peach,” gets its name from ripening close to China’s National Day. It is an excellent, extra-late-maturing honey peach variety with large fruit, well-suited for cultivation in southern regions. The fruit is ovate, tapering to a pointed tip with a small protrusion at the top. It has a shallow yet distinct suture, and both halves are symmetrical. The fruit is large, averaging over 200 g, with some reaching up to 500 g. The skin is yellow-green with a faint red blush, while the flesh is white, fine-textured, and juicy, with medium fiber content. When fully ripe, soluble solids reach 19%. The flavor is intensely sweet and aromatic, with a clingstone pit, and the variety does not crack. It is prized for its exceptional aroma, crispness, and sweetness. It has good storability, keeping 15–20 days at room temperature. Harvest time is mid-September.
