Description
Jinhua Yellow Peach, developed by the Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences’ Institute of Forestry and Fruit Trees through extensive use of excellent germplasm such as ‘Jinxiu’ and years of selective breeding, is a late-maturing variety that ripens 13–18 days later than ‘Jinxiu’. It combines excellent appearance with high fresh-eating quality.
The average fruit weight is 228 g, with large fruits reaching 396 g. Soluble solids content is 13.0%–14.5%. The fruit is nearly round, fairly symmetrical, with a round, flat tip and a distinct suture. The skin is yellow, and in unbagged fruit, red blush covers about 25% of the surface. The skin is thin and easy to peel. The flesh is yellow, juicy, and dense in texture, with a pleasant balance of sweetness and acidity and a fragrant aroma. It is clingstone and has excellent fresh-eating quality.
The concentrated harvest period is in early September, with a growth cycle of around 158 days. It produces pollen, requires no pollinizers or artificial pollination, and has a high natural fruit set rate.
