Description
Also knows as Red Giant Honey Apricot, was discovered as a superior natural selection in a farmer’s apricot orchard in Cangshan, Shandong Province, China. It is a rare large-fruited, high-yielding apricot valued for its strong resistance to late spring frost during flowering, early bearing, and reliable productivity.
The fruit is oval-shaped, with an average weight of approximately 85 g (3.0 oz) and exceptional fruit reaching 185 g (6.5 oz) or more. Fruit size is notably uniform. The skin is orange-yellow with a reddish blush on the sun-exposed side. The flesh is orange-yellow, freestone, fine-textured, tender, and richly sweet with a pronounced apricot aroma. Soluble solids range from 14–17° Brix.
This variety is also known for its early and abundant fruiting. Trees can reportedly achieve nearly 100% fruiting in the second year after planting and enter peak production in the third year. Its high fruit-setting rate contributes to stable, heavy yields and excellent commercial cultivation potential.
