Youtanben (油潭本龙眼)

Description

Youtanben longan has fruit clusters that are 21 cm long, with a cluster weight of 357 grams and a relatively dense fruit set. The fruit stems are slender and tough. The fruit is flattened round in shape, with uniform size, a rounded top, and distinct shoulders. The fruit measures 2.6 cm in vertical diameter and 2.8 cm in horizontal diameter, with an individual fruit weight of 12-13 grams. The skin is yellow-brown or gray-brown, with prominent tortoise-like patterns, radiating lines, and wart-like protrusions.

The flesh is milky white, semi-transparent, with a thickness of 0.53 cm. The surface of the flesh is prone to oozing juice, and it separates from the seed fairly easily. The texture is crisp, with moderate melting in the mouth, abundant juice, and a rich, sweet flavor of above-average quality, though the aroma is ordinary. The edible portion accounts for 64.5% of the fruit. The soluble solids content is 22-24%, total sugar content is 16.9%, invert sugar is 11.8%, and acid content is 0.078%. Each 100 grams of fruit flesh contains 86.06 mg of vitamin C.
