Smooth-skinned Kumquat (滑皮金桔)

Description

Smooth-skinned kumquat is a new variety of kumquat discovered and successfully bred by agricultural science and technology personnel in Rong’an County, Guangxi in Dajiang Town in 1981. It does not have the spicy taste of ordinary kumquats, and even the heart is sweet, so it is also called sweetheart orange.
The young fruit is dark green, the mature peel is orange-yellow, the single fruit weighs 12-15g, and the maximum fruit weighs 20g. The fruit is nearly spherical, with a fruit shape index of 1.050-1.075; the edible rate is about 90%, which is one of the highest edible rates among citrus fruits. The skin is extremely smooth, with few oil cells and no spicy taste. The whole fruit is fragrant, sweet and crisp when eaten with the skin. The fruits begin to mature from mid-November.
