It is a premium, early-ripening and rare navel orange variety originating from Zigui County, Hubei Province. It is named for its harvest season—the ninth lunar month (late October on the Gregorian calendar)—and its distinctive orange-red flesh.
This variety is celebrated for its exceptionally high juice content, about 1.2 times that of ordinary oranges, its soft, delicate, melt-in-the-mouth texture, and a well-balanced sweet-to-acid ratio of approximately 9:1.
