Description
The Rose-Scented Mandarin is a late-ripening citrus variety, developed by crossbreeding sweet oranges with Satsuma mandarins.
The fruit is flattened and spherical in shape, with an orange peel that is smooth, glossy, and vibrant. It has fine oil glands and a thin skin that clings slightly but is easy to peel. The fruit emits a rose-like fragrance and is known for its medicinal and tea-making properties. It colors early, reaching full coloration by mid-December and full ripeness by late December.
The Rose-Scented Mandarin is a large-fruited variety, mostly seedless or with very few seeds. Each fruit weighs an average of 200–300 grams, with larger fruits reaching up to 400 grams. The fruits are uniform in size, with yellow-orange flesh that is crisp, sweet, juicy, and tender, dissolving easily in the mouth. It has a high sugar and low acid content, with a soluble solids level of around 13–14%, reaching up to 20% at its peak. Rich in nutrients, the fruit is an excellent source of vitamins.
