Description
The fruit is flattened and round, or broad and conical with a short neck-like bulge at the stem end. The top is flat and wide with a central depression and shallow radial grooves. Its dimensions are 5.1-6.1 cm in diameter by 6.1-7.8 cm in height, and it weighs between 136-187 grams, though smaller or larger sizes can occur. The color ranges from orange-yellow to orange-red, with large oil glands, abundant oil, and a rough, crisp skin that is 2.7-3.5 mm thick, making it very easy to peel. The fruit has 10-12 segments, tender flesh, and is juicy, with few or no seeds. The seeds, if present, have pale green cotyledons and are polyembryonic. The flowering period is April to May, and the fruiting period is November to December.
