Description
Also known as Santol or Wild Mangosteen, bears egg-shaped to obovoid fruits measuring 3–5 cm in length and 2.5–3 cm in diameter. The fruits turn yellow when ripe, with a persistent shield-like stigma. Each fruit contains 1–2 oval seeds, about 2–2.5 cm long.
The flowering period is from April to May, and the fruiting period is from October to February.
This is an improved variety with thick flesh, small seeds, and a sugar content of around 20. It has a sweet and tangy taste.
