Description
The fruit is spherical, resembling grapes, with a diameter of about one inch. Its juicy flesh contains one to four small seeds. The fruits grow directly on the trunk and main branches and can produce up to five harvests a year in its native Brazil. In addition to being eaten fresh, the fruit can be made into jelly, candied snacks, jam, and the highly flavorful Jaboticaba wine.
When fully ripe, the flesh is juicy, semi-transparent, and incredibly sweet, offering a unique taste.
The tree is evergreen throughout the year, grows slowly, and has an elegant appearance.
