Description

The Jinqiu Shatangju is a new hybrid variety developed by the Citrus Research Institute, using Ehime No. 30 as the mother and Shatangju as the father. The fruit is round, with a single fruit weighing between 40 and 80 grams. The peel is orange-red with prominent oil glands. Jinqiu is seedless, crisp, and sweet, with excellent texture and a high soluble solids content ranging from 12% to 22%. It has a total acid content of 0.4%, making it a purely sweet variety with no noticeable sourness when eaten.

Jinqiu ripens 30 to 45 days earlier than regular Shatangju. In Sichuan and Chongqing regions, the fruit turns fully orange by mid-October and red by early November, ready for harvest. In areas with longer sunlight exposure like Guangdong and Guangxi, the fruit colors up between late August and early September, making it available for harvest around the National Day holiday.
