Description
Huxiao Pear, developed by the Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences, is a high-quality variety known for its exceptional flavor and appearance.
The fruits are plump and round with smooth, delicate skin. The flesh is tender, juicy, crisp, and free of residue. Each fruit weighs around 300 grams, and the soluble solids (sugar content) reach 13.5–14.7%.
Compared with common pear varieties, Huxiao stands out for its balanced sweetness, evenly distributed sugars, crisp juiciness, and a pleasant hint of acidity that enhances its rich and distinctive flavor.
Beyond its eating quality, Huxiao also offers strong agronomic advantages. It has a long on-tree hanging period and produces abundant pollen. In the Shanghai region, it ripens around July 15 and can remain on the tree for up to a month while maintaining excellent quality—greatly reducing the pressure of concentrated harvest and market supply.
Huxiao is a hybrid of Huanghua and Zao Sheng Xin Shui, combining the high productivity of Huanghua with the superior fruit quality of Zao Sheng Xin Shui.
