Description
Ehime No. 43 is an upgraded version of Ehime No. 38. It is a hybrid offspring developed from Harumi and Ehime No. 17 mandarins. This variety features large, well-filled fruits with high sugar content and low acidity. The acidity significantly decreases before China’s National Day (October 1st), and the fruits can be harvested from late November to March of the following year. When picked around the Chinese New Year, the sugar content can reach 14–17 Brix.
The fruit has an attractive orange-red skin that is very smooth and easy to peel. It is thin-skinned, juicy, and seedless, with a delicate membrane around each segment. The flesh is crisp, tender, and melts in the mouth, making it easy to eat piece by piece.
