Description

It is originated in Japan and is a mid-season white-fleshed peach bred from a cross between Hakuho and white peach cultivars. In 2008, it was introduced from Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, by the Shanghai Peach Research Institute, and through further cultivation it was adapted into an early–mid-season variety.

In the Shanghai region, Chiyue fruit ripens in early July, about 10 days earlier than the main southern honey peach cultivar Hujing Honeydew.

The trees are vigorous, with an open growth habit, strong overall growth, good disease resistance, and wide adaptability. The variety has a high fruit set, with minimal physiological and pre-harvest fruit drop, resulting in stable and high yields.

The fruit is nearly round, uniform in shape, with a shallow suture, good symmetry, and a flat, rounded apex. Fruits are relatively large, with an average weight of about 235g. The skin peels easily, and the flesh is white, with red coloration near the pit. It has a soft, melting texture, abundant juice, and a rich, sweet flavor, with an average soluble solids content of about 14.2%.
