Description
The Cangxi Snow Pear is typically obovate in shape and very large, with an average fruit weight of 472 grams, and the largest reaching up to 1900 grams. The skin is dark brown with prominent, large lenticels, giving the surface a slightly rough texture. The core is medium to small in size. The flesh is white, crisp, and tender, with few stone cells, abundant juice, and a sweet taste. It contains 10.7%–14% soluble solids, 7.62% soluble sugars, 0.70% titratable acids, and 2.88 mg of vitamin C per 100 grams. The quality is rated above average. The fruit is relatively storage-resistant and matures in late September.
Under the specific environmental conditions of Cangxi County, the fruit exhibits unique characteristics such as “large size, small core, crisp and tender flesh, abundant juice, fragrant aroma, sweetness, and melt-in-the-mouth texture.” The edible portion reaches as high as 90.4%.
