Description
Black Persimmon No. 1 produces elongated fruits with a distinctive fleshy ring-shaped constriction beneath the calyx. The peel is smooth and fine-textured, free of vertical grooves, and develops a deep black, glossy color covered with a natural white waxy bloom. The flesh is orange-yellow, fine-grained, and intensely sweet, offering a rich, full flavor.
The fruit is medium-sized, with an average single-fruit weight of 126 g, and a maximum weight of up to 232 g. It has an average soluble solids content of 22.43%, vitamin C content of 406.0 mg/kg, total sugar content of 19.46%, and total acidity of only 0.08%, resulting in an outstanding sweet taste. The fruit loses astringency easily, and overall eating quality is excellent.
With a relatively thick peel and protective waxy bloom, this variety shows excellent storage performance. After harvest, the fruit can be stored at room temperature for over 30 days, or 3–4 months under cold storage. The fruit can fully soften, and once softened, it can be stored for up to 20 days without cracking or decay, demonstrating exceptional postharvest durability.
