Description

It begins to color in late September and matures in late October. The fruit is exceptionally large, with an average weight of 241 grams, and the largest fruits can weigh over 500 grams. The fruits are relatively uniform in size, flat-round in shape, and are orange-yellow or light orange-red, turning orange-red when softened. The skin is fine and smooth, with a heavy bloom and no reticulate patterns. It is thick, tough, and easy to peel. The fruit has a deep and distinct constriction at the middle, dividing it into an upper and lower layer resembling a millstone, hence the name “Millstone persimmon.”

The flesh is orange-yellow, without black spots, and has fine, long fibers. The texture is crisp when firm and watery when softened, with abundant juice and a sweet flavor. It contains 18.0% soluble solids, 15.28% soluble sugars, and 18.91 mg of vitamin C per 100 grams, with tannin levels ranging from 0.64% to 1.71%. The core is large and solid when ripe, and the fruit has no flesh balls or seeds. The fruit softens completely, with a clear distinction between firm and soft stages. When softened, the skin does not wrinkle or crack. The astringency is easily removed, and the fruit is resistant to transportation and storage, making it suitable for fresh consumption.
