Description

It is a classic Chinese-bred kiwifruit variety renowned for its juicy texture, rich aroma, and well-balanced sweet-tart flavor. Developed by the Shaanxi Fruit Tree Research Institute from a superior wild selection in Zhouzhi County, Shaanxi, it has become an important commercial variety in northern and northwestern China.

The fruit is medium to large, averaging around120 g and occasionally exceeding 180 g. It is ovate or nearly cylindrical in shape, yellowish-brown hairy skin, and attractive bright green to yellowish-green flesh with a small core. As a late-season cultivar, Qin Mei typically ripens in mid to late October.

When fully ripened, the fruit generally reaches 12–15% soluble solids, delivering a juicy, tender texture and a distinctive, pleasantly sweet-tart flavor. Its good storage and transportation performance also makes Qin Mei well suited for commercial production and distribution.
