Description
Daishi Early Plum produces oval-shaped fruit with an average single fruit weight of 41–53 g, while larger fruits can reach up to 70 g. The skin has a yellow-green base color overlaid with a bright red blush and is relatively thick. A heavy gray-white bloom covers the surface.
The flesh is light yellow with radiating red streaks. It has a fine, crisp texture with relatively abundant fine fibers, high juiciness, and a balanced sweet–tart flavor accompanied by a light aroma. The fruit contains 11.5% soluble solids, 6.12% total sugars, and 1.8% titratable acidity. It is clingstone, with a small pit, and an edible portion of 97.6%.
With excellent eating quality, Daishi Early Plum is a high-quality early-ripening fresh-market variety. In the Tai’an area of Shandong Province, the fruit begins coloring in early June and reaches maturity by mid-June.
