Description
Also known as Phoenix Plum, is an early-ripening plum variety developed in southern China. It is named for its harvest season in the lunar month of May and its exceptionally crisp, sweet flesh. The fruit is oval in shape with a purplish-red skin coated in a fine white bloom, weighing approximately 40–60 grams per piece.
The flesh is thick, firm, and freestone, with a high sugar content of up to 18° Brix and no bitterness or acidity, making it enjoyable to eat with the skin on. Ripening from late May to mid-June, it is valued for its good storage and transport tolerance as well as its strong adaptability.
