Description
Mengshan Hong Hawthorn is a bud mutation of Tianhongzi Hawthorn, discovered in the hawthorn orchard of Jiangou Village, Pingyi County, Shandong Province. It is a mid-season variety with large fruits, The average single fruit weighs 16 grams, and the largest fruit weighs 23 grams. The fruit is flattened and round, with a glossy orange-red skin. The flesh is creamy yellow, thick, and finely textured, with a rich aroma. It has a sweet and tangy flavor, offering excellent quality. The edible portion of the fruit is 90.50%, with a soluble sugar content of 12.50% and a titratable acid content of 1.58%, resulting in a sugar-acid ratio of 7.91. It is also rich in vitamin C, containing 715.60 mg/kg, and has a protein content of 1.17% and a total flavonoid content of 1.025%.
Mengshan Hong is self-pollinating and has a fruit development period of 135 to 140 days. In the Linyi region, it matures in late September, 10 to 15 days earlier than Da Jin Xing.
